From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

Verbs where the ablaut vowel was followed by -y- in Proto-Indo-European.

The first class is the largest and most regular class of Dutch strong verbs.

The paradigm is:

Form
Present tense /-ɛi̯-/
Past tense singular /-eː-/
Past tense plural /-eː-/
Past participle /-eː-/

For example, blijvenbleefblevengebleven

The diphthong /ɛi̯/ is written with ij and there are but few verbs with an ij in the stem that are weak.
