Category:Hungarian terms with archaic senses

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

Hungarian terms with individual senses that are no longer in general use but still encountered in older literature, sometimes still used for special effect, and typically recognized by native speakers.

To categorize into this category, use {{lb|hu|archaic}} (template lb, not tlb), which should typically be placed next to the individual sense.

If the term itself, in all its senses, is archaic, it should be placed in [[Category:Hungarian archaic terms]] instead, using {{tlb|hu|archaic}} (template tlb instead of lb), which should typically be placed next to the headword. If the term is merely a variant (alternative form) of a term in general use, it should be categorized in [[Category:Hungarian archaic forms]] (using {{archaic form of|hu|...}} or {{archaic spelling of|hu|...}}).

Archaic senses should be distinguished from dated senses, which are merely unfashionable and anachronistic but still sometimes used, especially by older speakers; and on the other hand from obsolete senses, which are no longer in use at all and are not usually recognized by native speakers.

The following label generates this category: archaic (alias antiquated)edit. To generate this category using one of these labels, use {{lb|hu|label}}.

See also Category:Hungarian archaic terms and Category:Hungarian archaic forms.

In accordance with the general guidelines, archaic is meant to be used where a term or its specified meaning are not commonly used anymore but which can still be used for a special stylistic effect, as they are understood by those familiar with literature.

As a rule of thumb, with a view to the accepted periods in Hungarian language history, this label is to be used for terms and senses that were common before the beginning of the Current Hungarian period, 1920. (Compare obsolete and dated terms/senses in Hungarian.)
