atya
Appearance
Hungarian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Uncertain. Perhaps from Proto-Uralic *attɜ (“father, grandfather”) + -a (diminutive suffix or possessive suffix). It is also possible that it originates from infant talk.[1][2] Cognates include Erzya атя (aťa) and Udmurt атай (ataj).
