Usage notes

[edit]
  • In Lazona, the period from approximately the second week of July to the second week of August is known as ქცაფაში ორა (kʒapaşi ora, rotten month). The reason for this description is that during this time everything outside is mouldy and rotten. It rains frequently during this period, and when it is not raining, it is overcast. A piece of clothing left outside for a few days during this period, when the humidity is at its highest, immediately starts to rot and smells very bad. It is not recommended to swim in streams during this period, as it is believed that decomposition starts in water. People who are forced to enter the water or who want to swim are advised to wear copper rings or bracelets. It is believed that copper will prevent decay.
