double decl

[edit]

@Saltmarsh, these double declensions: katharevousa and demotic, or if you prefer, they could be swapped: demotic (standard) first, and then katharevousa. ΑΑ... we cannot: the name of the templates.

If you agree, I can add |stem2 to the linked words. Hope I am not causing too much trouble here...

  • έγγαμος is trickier, DSMG does NOT give the katharevousa endings. They are perhaps ok only for the feminine. Η έγγαμος - της εγγάμου, but definitely not της έγγαμου Demotic is η έγγαμη - της έγγαμης ΟΚ. Perhaps another template is needed for those with katharevousa only at feminine.

PS. DSMG is very not-katharevousa style. If they give it, it means it is in use. --sarri.greek (talk) 20:15, 25 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Sarri.greek forgive me - I have reverted your edits, we can change it back when we know whether these changes apply to ALL the terms in Category:Greek adjectives in declension ος-ος-η-ο. Certainly I think that the demotic forms should be shown first. If it doesn't apply to them all we shall need another template for those that need it. — Saltmarsh. 05:19, 26 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Yes, @Saltmarsh it is a lot of work. At the moment all genitives are wrong. I will need to go through all of them. I have to go now. Perhaps tonight. --sarri.greek (talk)
OK, @Saltmarsh it was not so hard (only few words). The name of your templates (with the katharevousa coming first, is ok, no need to change it: most words are very formal indeed, and it is quite fitting)
Template:el-decl-adj-ος-ος-η-ο - linked words ok now with stem2, ready for the transition. Just for the record, in DSMG their 'E17' adjectives are:
About the ος-ος-α-ο:
From Template:el-decl-adj-ος-ος-α-ο which is for paroxytone formal adjectives, (linked words) I only found 4 proparoxytones which need a Template:el-decl-adj-ος-ος-α-ο3 you call them? It is just like the -ος-ος-η-ο, but with -α. They are: βόρειος, εξωμήτριος, ευχετήριος for the 2nd decl., άβιος. (I left a rfv-sense for βόρειος as a noun meaning=northwind, because I do not know it, and could not find it, neither as ancient sense). βόρειος and νότιος are excellent catchwοrds
So, let me know if you wish me to do the work for the changes at the tables and documentations. Your sarri.greek (talk) 15:09, 26 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Yes, please do (thank you), just let me know if your get stuck — Saltmarsh. 04:51, 27 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
I have created Template:el-decl-adj-ος-η-ος-ο-2 which displays the proparoxytone / paroxytone alternations shown at DSMG adjectival declension paradigm E17. Voltaigne (talk) 10:11, 17 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
