     Nanjo (Seogu) was originally friendly with Master Seokjeon, but after the changes in the world, there was a difference in the causes they chose to stand for, and they became distant from each other. Afterwards, he harshly slandered us Confucians and exceedingly praised the foreign sciences (a poem he wrote for a banquet upon the completion of the modern school says that the learning of the Sage Confucius is [only] ancient decrees).
