From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *m-(l/n)ej ~ *m-li (penis) with a body-part suffix *-n; compare Tibetan མཇེ (mje, penis), S'gaw Karen လံၢ် (lee̱, vagina) and Burmese လီး (li:, penis) (Benedict, 1976).
