[edit]From Proto-Tai *haːꟲ (“five”), from Old Chinese 五 (OC *ŋaːʔ, “five”). Cognate with Thai ห้า (hâa), Northern Thai ᩉ᩶ᩣ, Lao ຫ້າ (hā), Lü ᦠᦱᧉ (ḣaa²), Tai Dam ꪬ꫁ꪱ, Shan ႁႃႈ (hāa), Tai Nüa ᥞᥣᥲ (hàa), Ahom 𑜑𑜡 (hā), Zhuang haj.
