Toki Pona is a constructed language, designed by translator and linguist Sonja Lang and first published online in August 2001.
The set of 137 words listed below (known in Toki Pona as nimi ku suli) are the words emphasized as essential vocabulary in the book Toki Pona Dictionary (2021) by Sonja Lang. Among them, the 120 words (known in Toki Pona as nimi pu) that are listed in the dictionary of Lang's book Toki Pona: The Language of Good (2014), are generally more widely used and more often accepted as standard Toki Pona. The 17 words that are not part of this smaller set are marked as such in the list below.
