According to 楊倞 (Yáng Jìng, “fl. 819”), here the character carries a similar meaning to 祛 (qū, “to lose”), while Yu Yue (俞樾, 1821~1907) reckoned it as a variant of 阹 (qū, “to bar; to obstruct”) - Fúyáng zhī yú yě, qū yú shā ér sī shuǐ, zé wú dài yǐ. [Pinyin]
