From Aramaic קֵּשְׁתָּא (qeštā); compare Akkadian 𒄑𒉼 (qaštum), Hebrew קֶשֶׁת (késhet) and Arabic قَوْس (qaws, bow). The latter noun is an occupation noun modified from the former; compare Hebrew קַשָּׁת (kashát).
