[edit]Ultimately derived from Phoenician 𐤐 (p, literally “mouth”); compare Hebrew פֵּא (pé), Arabic فَاء (fāʔ) and Ancient Greek πεῖ (peî). Doublet of ܦܘܼܡܵܐ (pummā).
