From ερευν(ώ) (erevn(ó)) + modern ending -άω (-áo). Learnedly from Ancient Greek ἐρευνῶ (ereunô), contracted from of ἐξερευνάω (exereunáō).[1] See ἔρομαι (éromai, to ask).
