[edit]Possibly borrowed from Thai สาเก (sǎa-gee) “breadfruit”, from Tamil சக்கை (cakkai) or Malayalam ചക്ക (cakka) “jackfruit”. Cognate with Portuguese jaca (“jackfruit”) and French jaque (“jackfruit”).
