- Sore o gosō suru no wa, Kyōto machibugyō no haika ni iru dōshin de, kono dōshin wa zainin no shinrui no naka de, omodatta hitori o Ōsaka made dōsen saseru koto o yurusu kanrei de atta.
- The prisoner was escorted for this trip by a minor official of the Kyoto magistrate's office called a doshin, who would give permission for one close relative, some representative of the family, to accompany the fellow on his journey.[3]
