- Bengal was the state referred as "Juandu" in Han dynasty and then "Tianzhu" in Eastern Han. After that, central Tianzhu offered tribute to Liang dynasty and Southern Tianzhu offered tribute to Northern Wei. In Tang dynasty Tianzhu was divied into five parts, also known as five Indias. In Song dynasty the state was still referred as Tianzhu. Bengal was the eastern part of India. It took 20 days and nights to sail downwind from Sumatra to there.
