Etymology 1

By regressive assimilation from ცაჩხა (ʒaçxa), from ცა (ʒa, sky) +‎ -შ (, genitive case marker) +‎ დღა (dğa, day). Compare Mingrelian ცაშხა (cašxa), Svan ცა̈̄შ (cǟš).
