Inherited from Prakrit 𑀚𑀺𑀝𑁆𑀞𑀸𑀡𑀻 (jiṭṭhāṇī) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀇𑀓𑀸- (-ikā-), from Sanskrit ज्येष्ठ-जानि (jyeṣṭha-jāni).[1][2]
