Etymology

Inherited from Middle Hindi بھابی (bhaby /⁠bhābī⁠/) (c. 1697)[1] and Middle Hindi بھابھی (bhabhy /⁠bhābhī⁠/), from Prakrit *𑀪𑀸𑀩𑁆𑀪 (*bhābbha), from baby talk.[2] Cognate with Punjabi بھابی (bhābī).
