[edit]Inherited from Old Anatolian Turkish آرَالُقْ (araluq, “gap, space, interval”); cognate with Azerbaijani aralıq and Gagauz aralık. Equivalent to آرا (ara, “gap, space, interval”) + ـلق (-lık, -luk, “-ness, -hood”).

- space of place, gap, opening, room between two or more things, an interval between two or more points
- space of time, an interval or pause between two or more events, a length of time marked off by two instants
- chink, crevice, fissure, crack, any long, narrow opening made by breaking or splitting, as in a rock or in a wall
- blank, void, an empty or vacant space, especially one in a writing or on a piece of paper which one must fill in
- interruption, hiatus, recess, break, moratorium, a temporary stoppage of an activity, a cessation of something
