Table layout and parameters for the main tenses

[edit]

In Wiktionary Greek conjugations are structured around the two aspects, imperfective & perfective, and two tenses, non-past (present) & past. The combination of these produces a 2-by-2 table. With most verbs this pattern will be reproduce twice, once for each voice active and passive.

Active voice Passive voice
Imperfective+Non-past Perfective+Non-past
Imperfective+Past Perfective+Past
Imperfective+Non-past Perfective+Non-past
Imperfective+Past Perfective+Past

The parameters for most verbs come from the first person singular of the respective tenses.

present= διδάσκ
a-imperfect= δίδασκ     p-imperfect= διδασκ
a-dependent= διδάξ p-dependent= διδαχτ
a-simplepast= δίδαξ p-simplepast= διδάχτ

Footnotes
Footnote 1
Affecting singular, perfective imperative forms — if |a-simplepast-2= is used at the same time as the |augmented= flag is set then, in order to ensure this correct imperative |a-dependent-2= must also be set. Or else the direct access <a-impv-ps> may be used.
Footnote 2
if |a-dependent-2= is used the template will provide additional future simple and perfect tense forms. This is illustrated by αγγίζω and γκαρίζω

Infix values

[edit]
  • Second conjugation two verbs ασκώ and γελώ have the past forms άσκησα and γέλασα. They have the same endings but have by different infixes inserted after the stem and show here in red. The infix varies with voice and tense, thus ασκώ has variously ησ ήσ ηθ ήθ ού η as shown in the column 2 and illustrated with a column of examples.
  • Editors should use the parameter "infix" to select a pattern of values; {{el-conjug-sub5}} will be called internally using "patt" and "form" to provide to appropriate characters.
