Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-Aryan *taṭṣ-, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *taćš-, from Proto-Indo-European *tetḱ- (“to hew, create”).[1] Cognate with Latin texō (“to weave”) (whence English text, textile), Ancient Greek τέχνη (tékhnē) (whence English techno-), and Serbo-Croatian те̏сла (tesla, “adze”). See also तक्षन् (takṣan, “carpenter”).
