[edit]Inherited from Sanskrit पृच्छति (pṛccháti, “to ask”), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *pr̥šćáti, from Proto-Indo-European *pr̥sḱéti (“to ask”). Cognate with Avestan 𐬞𐬆𐬭𐬆𐬯𐬀𐬌𐬙𐬌 (pərəsaiti), Hindi पूछना (pūchnā), Gujarati પૂછવું (pūchvũ), Persian پرسیدن (porsidan), German forschen, Old English friġnan, Old Armenian հարցանեմ (harcʻanem), Latin poscō, Belarusian прасі́ць (prasícʹ), Russian проси́ть (prosítʹ).
