From Philippine Spanish pancit, from Hokkien, either:

  • 扁食 (pán-si̍t, literally “kneaded food”), according to Manuel (1948).
  • 便 (pân si̍t, “dish that is conveniently cooked”, literally “easy food”), according to Chan-Yap (1980).
