• Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy documenting how Wiktionary pages should be formatted. All entries should conform to this standard. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing page for a similar word, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
• Our Criteria for inclusion (CFI) define exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary, though it may be a bit technical and longwinded. The most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
• If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
• The FAQ aims to answer most of your remaining questions, and there are several help pages that you can browse for more information.
• A glossary of our technical jargon, and some hints for dealing with the more common communication issues.
• If you have anything to ask about or suggest, we have several discussion rooms. Feel free to ask any other editors in person if you have any problems or question, by posting a message on their talk page.

You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage. This shows which languages you know, so other editors know which languages you'll be working on, and what they can ask you for help with.

corr from *kerp-?

Hi, who traces corr back to *kerp-? That's not what Matasović says; he says the PC is *kurros and is possibly related to Latin curvus and Ancient Greek κυρτός (kurtós). —Mahāgaja (formerly Angr) · talk 18:04, 25 January 2018 (UTC)

Oops, thank you! I'm going off my notes from Shcrijver, and I think I copied it down wrong. The semantic connection plus an earlier edit associating corrán with *kerp- didn't help me catch that either. I'll remove that and wait for someone with more experience in PIE to make the appropriate recon page.

Primitive Irish declension tables

Do we actually know enough about Primitive Irish paradigms to supply entire declension tables? I don't think that speculation is appropriate for an attested language. @Mahagaja —Μετάknowledge^{discuss/deeds} 17:21, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Primitive Irish is just barely attested. However there is a lot of certainty regarding the nominal and adjectival paradigms that necessarily existed at that period. It particularly bugged me that the vocative case and dual number had been left out so far in previous templates when we know they were there and know their values. I'm willing to debate wether or not such reconstructions are appropriate for a language like Primitive Irish but at the moment I don't see anything wrong with reconstructions so long as they're appropriately marked. @Metaknowledge, Rforqs: I really feel that we shouldn't have declension tables for Primitive Irish, since we know so little about it other than what we reconstruct backward from Old Irish and forward from PIE. Most of the existing tables were created by the now banned User:ÞunoresWrǣþþe, who had kind of a weird obsession with reconstructing barely attested medieval languages. —Mahāgaja · talk 10:40, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

@Mahagaja, would you please handle this? Given your expertise in the subject matter and the user who created the templates, I'd be comfortable with sending them to RFDO or just deleting them out of process. —Μετάknowledge^{discuss/deeds} 21:06, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
