About me
IPA(key): /ˈvu.kɐlɐ/
Blend of Vu-lpes (fox) +‎ bu-cca (mouth) +‎ -la (as in Attila, Caligula, Dracula, etc.)

Born in Poland, grew up in Canada, moved back to Poland in adulthood. Polish is technically my first language, but English overtook it in proficiency by the age of 6. Learned rudimentary French in school. Studied Japanese, Latin, and Jamaican Creole in adulthood.

Fun way to contribute

[edit]

Go to Category:English phrases, choose any phrase, and search for its earliest appearance on Archive.org books. Then add that citation to the entry's Citations: namespace page. This helps us date when a phrase first started to be used. Plus it's fun to discover the earliest-known use of a phrase, especially when a phrase turns out to be older than you expected.
