Usage
[edit]This template may be used in Wiktionary entries to format quotations from Pantologia. A New Cyclopædia (1st edition, 1813, 12 volumes). It can be used to create a link to online versions of the work at Google Books:
Parameters
[edit]The template takes the following parameters:
|1=
or|volume=
– mandatory: the volume number quoted from in uppercase Roman numerals,|volume=I
to|volume=XII
.|2=
or|entry=
– the entry or headword in the work to be quoted from. If this parameter is omitted, the template uses the name of the Wiktionary entry.|url=
– mandatory in some cases: as the work is unpaginated, the URL of the webpage on which the passage to be quoted must be specified manually, like this:|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=BducmFSH7V8C&pg=PT35
. You must specify this information for the template link to an online version of the work.|column=
or|columns=
– the column number(s) to be quoted from in Arabic numerals, either|column=1
or|column=2
. When referring to a passage that spans both columns, either omit this parameter or use an en dash like this:|columns=1–2
.|3=
,|text=
, or|passage=
– a passage to be quoted from the work.|brackets=
– use|brackets=on
to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
