Usage
[edit]This template may be used in Wiktionary entries to format quotations from the English version of Noël Chomel's work Dictionaire Oeconomique: Or, The Family Dictionary (1725), edited by Richard Bradley. It can be used to create a link to online versions of the work at Google Books:
Parameters
[edit]The template takes the following parameters:
|chapter=– if quoting from the dedication or preface in volume I, specify|chapter=Dedicationor|chapter=Prefacerespectively.|1=or|entry=– the entry or headword in the work to be quoted from in uppercase letters. If this parameter is omitted, the template uses the name of the Wiktionary entry. Note that the template relies on the specified entry or the name of the Wiktionary entry to determine whether volume I or II is quoted from.|2=or|page=– mandatory in some cases: as the work is unpaginated, use this parameter to specify the "page number" assigned by Google Books to the URL of the webpage to be link to. For example, if the URL ishttps://books.google.com/books?id=U9A_AQAAMAAJ&pg=PP15, specify|page=15. This parameter must be specified to have the template link to an online version of the work.|3=or|column=, or|columns=– the column number(s) to be quoted from in Arabic numerals, either|column=1or|column=2. When referring to a passage that spans both columns, either omit this parameter or use an en dash like this:|columns=1–2.|4=or|passage=– a passage to be quoted from the work.|footer=– a comment on the passage quoted.|brackets=– use|brackets=onto surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
