Etymology
[edit]- From Hungarian Kisjenő, derived from kis (“small”) + Jenő (“Hungarian tribe”), compare the town of Chișineu-Criș in Romania. (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)
- Possibly from (Cuman) Kipchak kešene (“burial mound”), Karachay-Balkar kešene (“graveyard, cemetery”), ultimately from Persian کاشانه (kâšâne).[1] Compare Bashkir кәшәнә (kəşənə, “grave memorial”) and Kazakh кесене (kesene, “mausoleum”).
