-ець (-ecʹm (feminine -иця or -ка or -енка)

  1. Suffix appended to verbs to create a masculine noun denoting someone or something that performs the action denoted by the verb.
    грець (hrecʹ), ссавець (ssavecʹ), валець (valecʹ)
  2. Suffix appended to adjectives to create a masculine noun denoting a person having the adjective's quality.
    іноземець (inozemecʹ), іноходець (inoxodecʹ), хлопець (xlopecʹ), червець (červecʹ)
  3. Diminutive suffix. (Sometimes carrying a derogatory connotation.)
    людці (ljudci)
