     外(とつ)國(くに)の遊(いう)子(し)は、やるせない心(こころ)持(もち)になつて、河岸(かはぎし)をとぼ〲(とぼ)と、人(ひと)のゐないかなたへと步(ある)くうちに、ふと、なつかしい偉大(いだい)なものに突(つ)きあたつた。

     Totsukuni no yūshi wa, yarusenai kokoromochi ni natte, kawagishi o tobotobo to, hito no inai kanata e to aruku uchi ni, futo, natsukashii idai na mono ni tsukiatatta.

     The traveller outside their country, feeling uneasy, trudged along the riverbank into the deserted distance, when he suddenly came upon something great and familiar.
