[edit]Equivalent to ἐκ- (ek-, “out of, from”) + στρᾰτείᾱ (străteíā, “campaign, expedition”), from ἐκστρατεύω (ekstrateúō, “to march out; to take the field; wage a campaign”) from ἐκ- (ek-) + στρᾰτεύω (străteúō, “advance with an army, wage war”), from στρᾰτός (strătós, “army, band of men”).
