[edit]From Pali issara (“chief; lord; master; etc”); ultimately from Sanskrit ईश्वर (īśvara, idem), from which Thai อิศวร (ì-sǔuan) is derived. Cognate with Lao ອິດສະລະ (ʼit sa la), Northern Thai ᩍᩔᩁ, Khmer ឥស្សរៈ (ʼəhsaʼraʼ). Doublet of อิศวร (ì-sǔuan) and อีศวร
