Inherited from Sanskrit কিংচিদ্ (kiṃcid, anything). Cognate with Sylheti ꠇꠤꠍꠥ (kisú), ꠇꠤꠌ꠆ꠍꠥ (kiccú); Bengali কিছু (kichu); Hindustani کچھ / कुछ (kuch).

Inherited from Middle Bengali কিছ (kicho), from Prakrit *𑀓𑀺𑀘𑁆𑀙 (*kiccha), from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀓𑀺𑀘𑁆𑀙𑀺 (*kicchi), from attested 𑀓𑀺𑀁𑀘𑀺 (kiṃci) from the neuter singular Sanskrit किंचिद् (kiṃcid) with -cch- supplanting -ṃc- due to conflation with *𑀓𑀘𑁆𑀙𑀺 (*kacchi), from the masculine singular form कश्चिद् (kaścid).
