Etymology

Borrowed from Sanskrit उज्ज्वल (ujjvala), derived from Sanskrit ज्वल् (jval, to burn brightly, blaze, shine), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *ǵwelH- (to burn, to glow). Doublet of জ্বলা (jola, to burn, to shine), ঝাল (jhal, hot, spiciness), জ্বাল (jal, fire, fuel, firewood), জ্বালা (jala, irritation; to light up, to ignite), জ্বলন (jolon, combustion, burning), জ্বালানি (jalani, fuel).
