[edit]Borrowed from Sanskrit उज्ज्वल (ujjvala), derived from Sanskrit ज्वल् (jval, “to burn brightly, blaze, shine”), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *ǵwelH- (“to burn, to glow”). Doublet of জ্বলা (jola, “to burn, to shine”), ঝাল (jhal, “hot, spiciness”), জ্বাল (jal, “fire, fuel, firewood”), জ্বালা (jala, “irritation; to light up, to ignite”), জ্বলন (jolon, “combustion, burning”), জ্বালানি (jalani, “fuel”).
