Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-Iranian *kr̥tás (“done”), from Proto-Indo-European *kʷr̥-tó-s, from *kʷer- (“to do, make”). By surface analysis, कृ (kṛ) + -त (-ta). Cognate with Avestan 𐬐𐬆𐬭𐬆𐬙𐬀 (kərəta), Old Persian 𐎣𐎼𐎫 (k-r-t /karta/).
