Inherited from Proto-Turkic *siarïg (yellow, white); cognate with Old Turkic 𐰽𐰺𐰍 (sarïg), Azerbaijani sarı, Bashkir һары (harı), Chuvash шурӑ (šură), Kazakh сары (sary), Kyrgyz сары (sarı), Turkmen sāry, Tuvan сарыг (sarıg), Uyghur سېرىق (sëriq) and Uzbek sariq.
