Univerbation of з (z, from) +‎ покон (pokon, the beginning) (obsolete) +‎ ві́ку (víku, of the age) genitive singular of вік (vik, age, era, eon). Compare Russian споко́н веку (spokón veku). Further from Old East Slavic конъ (konŭ, limit), from Proto-Slavic *konъ (beginning, end).
