[edit]From Proto-Hellenic *pəkʰús, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰn̥ǵʰús, from *bʰenǵʰ- (“thick, fat”). Cognates include Sanskrit बहु (bahu) and Avestan 𐬠𐬄𐬰𐬀𐬵 (bązah).
