Borrowed from Italian pasticcio,[1] from Vulgar Latin *pasticium, from *pastīcius (of dough), from Late Latin pasta (paste; pasta), from Ancient Greek παστά (pastá, barley porridge), from παστός (pastós, sprinkled with salt).
