[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish اوزندی (üzendi, “care, anxiety, dejection”),[1] from Ottoman Turkish اوزمك (üzmek, “to overstrain, to injure by over-exertion, to break down or debilitate with pain, to hurt the feelings of”), from Proto-Turkic *üz- (“to break, to hurt, to pluck”),[2][3] morphologically üz- + -ün + -tü.
