Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Vietic *k-puːr (“lime”), from Proto-Mon-Khmer *knpur (“lime”), of Austronesian origin. Cognate with Muong pôl, Khmer កំបោរ (kɑmbao), Mon ဂပဵု (həpɒ). Compare Proto-Austronesian *qapuʀ, whence also Malay kapur.
