[edit]From Proto-Celtic *fstrew- (“sneeze”), from Proto-Indo-European *pster- (“sneeze”). Cognate with ystrew, Irish sraoth (“sneeze”), Breton strevia (“to sneeze”); outside of Celtic, compare Latin sternuo, Ancient Greek πταρμός (ptarmós), and Armenian փռշտալ (pʻṙštal).
