From Proto-Albanian *ta ̊, from Proto-Indo-European *to- (it). Cognate to Lithuanian tadà (then, thereupon) and Sanskrit तदा (ta-dā́, then). The second element is from Proto-Albanian *nu, from Proto-Indo-European *nu. Cognate to English now.
