[edit]Inherited from Middle High German schīzen, from Old High German skīzan, from Proto-West Germanic *skītan, from Proto-Germanic *skītaną, from Proto-Indo-European *skéydt.[1] By surface analysis, Scheis (“shit”) + -e.
Cognate with German scheißen and Luxembourgish schäissen.
