Hungarian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Uncertain, perhaps from a Turkic language -m (nominal suffix). For the root, compare Chagatai چاولی (čavli, “young hawk; sparrow hawk”), Ottoman Turkish چاولی (çavlı, “falcon”). For the -m suffix, compare alom, orom.[1]
