Etymology

[edit]

Borrowed from Old Swedish bik, from Middle Low German pik, from Latin pix. The e-stem, unusual for a borrowing as recent as this, is probably by analogy with hiki in order to avoid problematic homonymous forms such as *piin (~ piin, genitive of pii).

Pronunciation

[edit]
  • IPA(key): /ˈpiki/, [ˈpik̟i]
  • Rhymes: -iki
  • Hyphenation(key): pi‧ki
