[edit]13th century. From Old Galician-Portuguese mesturar, from a Late Latin mixturo, mixturare, from Latin mixtūra, participle of misceō (“to mix”), from Proto-Indo-European *meiǵ-, *meiḱ- (“to mix”). Cognate with Portuguese misturar.
