[edit]From Malay maklumat, from Classical Malay معلومات (ma'lumat), from Arabic معلومات (maʕlūmāt), plural of مَعْلُوم (maʕlūm, “known”), passive participle of عَلِمَ (ʕalima, “to know”).[1] Doublet of maklum.
