Etymology

    Inherited from Old Galician-Portuguese ligeyro, borrowed from Old French legier, from Vulgar Latin *leviārius, from *levius + Latin -ārius. Piecewise doublet of leveiro.

    Cognate with Fala ligeru, Galician lixeiro and Spanish ligero.
